The time scale is basically generational, with the new generation replacing the old with new-found discoveries that the "different" ones (for whatever reason) were not the devils we'd been led to believe. In each case the war has been eventually won. This war is no different. There will be battles lost, but in the end (because it's right) people will come to see our Gay sons, brothers, sisters, aunts, and cousins as human beings. The important thing is to not get discouraged. And remember, you are writing history. A hundred years from now people won't remember the names of those that contributed to Proposition 8; but they will remember you and others that championed civil rights. The fight for civil rights has been a long one.
