“If by a ‘Liberal’ they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind,
someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people – their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil
liberties – if that is what they mean by a Liberal, then I’m proud to
say “I’m a Liberal.”
My darling son-in-law posted this as his facebook status after the sad news from Maine and so many of our conservative friends and family were so relieved that God’s side won out over the gay ‘liberals’ out to destroy the moral fabric of society.
As an exmormon mom I never dreamed I would be saying “I am a Liberal” and proud to stand with you my darling Spencer!

Great blog Linda. I’m a liberal and proud to stand with you and Spencer and all our other FF friends.
Hey, Linda. I agree with everything you said. “Liberal” should be a label everyone strives for. But, you know, the right wingers have redefined “liberal” to the point it rings with a negative connotation for many folks. And since communication is the name of the game, I suggest (and personally use) the label “progressive.”
Same meaning (in fact, a little more descriptive) with a more positive appeal (I believe).
After all, who would want to be “anti progressive?”
Anyway, my $0.02.
Duwayne
Duwayne, I love your $.02 worth! Progressive sounds far more hip, and God knows I’m “cool”… so I think I will join you in the “Progressive” club.
Thanks for your insight as always and your loving support!
Linda
